O ponto de partida para esta proposta foi muito claro: o que se pretendia era apenas uma intervenção cirúrgica na cozinha que apenas previa a substituição das frentes dos armários, além da reparação e pintura das restantes paredes do apartamento. 
Quando a solução foi apresentada, foi sugerida a substituição dos módulos altos, por forma a alterar a funcionalidade da cozinha e libertar espaço para a zona de refeições. Esta ligeira alteração gerou um entusiasmo crescente, tanto do cliente como nosso, que levou a uma remodelação integral da cozinha e que posteriormente se alargou às instalações sanitárias.
 
O fio condutor para o projecto foi enquadrar este novo desenho das zonas húmidas na linguagem da restante fração, que tem bastante luz natural, pedra nos pavimentos da zona social e madeira na zona privada. Procurámos simplificar o desenho, utilizando os mesmos materiais e tons nas zonas da intervenção, tais como a pedra lioz, o branco e o tom quente das luminárias.

O projecto diz respeito à reabilitação de
um apartamento localizado entre o Largo da Luz e o centro Histórico de Carnide.
A habitação está inserida num edifício de gaveto com uma implantação irregular.
Os espaços da cozinha e sala estão orientados a Norte, a i.s. está instalada no
interior e os dois quartos são orientados a Nascente.


O objetivo do projecto visa a reabilitação
da habitação, mantendo a tipologia e a estrutura funcional existente.


O apartamento tem a particularidade de ter os elementos
estruturais a descoberto, sendo, por isso, facilmente identificáveis os pilares,
as vigas e consequentemente o sistema construtivo do edifício. 


Esta característica incontornável foi assumida pela intervenção
que, ao longo do desenvolvimento do projeto, procurou articular as necessidades
funcionais com relações de continuidade e de tensão com estes elementos.


Por forma a criar uma sensação de amplitude e continuidade
entre espaços optou-se por aplicar em toda a casa tábua corrida de carvalho.
Nas zonas húmidas utilizou-se a alusão ao revestimento da caixa de escadas
do edifício, para aplicar no pavimento o sistema de peças de marmorite com base
cimentícia pigmentada a amarelo com inertes de pedras brancas locais. 


O amarelo é uma cor já muito experimentada na arquitetura e
estas peças relacionam-se com os tons do carvalho e da bétula e trazem um ambiente
mais quente à casa, refletindo o tom da luz natural.


Foi desenvolvido um conjunto de peças de carpintaria que se
relacionam entre si reforçando a perceção de continuidade entre espaços e, é através
destes dispositivos, que são trabalhadas relações de tensão e articulação como
os elementos estruturais.

Trata-se de um lote situado num terreno acidentado, cujo programa requeria uma moradia unifamiliar de tipologia T4. O piso térreo teria uma cozinha, sala de estar, sala de jantar, instalação sanitária social, três quartos no piso superior e duas instalações sanitárias. 
O regulamento do loteamento obrigou então a um complexo exercício para responder a esta organização programática, atendendo ao mesmo tempo à topografia do terreno e a áreas generosas para cada divisão.

Os clientes procuraravam estabelecer uma nova fase na vida, com uma maior ligação familiar e com a natureza, mantendo ao mesmo tempo uma proximidade a Lisboa.

O edifício existente
é da autoria do Eng. José António d’Ávila Amaral, projectista de outros edifícios,
como a fachada e interior da
livraria Lello Lisboeta. Enquanto
engenheiro trabalhou com dois arquitectos proeminentes da época: Norte Júnior e Cassiano
Branco, figura que marcou determinantemente o Modernismo em Portugal. Salienta-se sobretudo a colaboração com o Arq. Cassiano Branco neste edifício em específico, pela particularidade e semelhança dos elementos arquitectónicos, como a utilização dos frisos horizontais
que compõem a fachada, 
o lambrim de pedra ao nível do vão de entrada no edifício e pela importância e escala do vão de entrada e respectivas escadas.A fachada principal é o elemento do edifício
onde se reconhece um desenho mais cuidado e erudito, mais próximo dos projetos
do Arq. Cassiano Branco, como referido. Propomos por isso a
reabilitação e restituição do desenho original da mesma, repondo o grande vão de
entrada na loja com as suas dimensões originais, refazendo o friso demolido e
substituindo as caixilharias por réplicas das originais. Com vista a contribuir para a melhoria das condições de
segurança e salubridade do edifício, consideramos
que seria indispensável alterar
as tipologias do edifício. Neste
sentido, a proposta tem a intenção de libertar a planta existente da excessiva
compartimentação,&#38;nbsp; permitindo criar um
grande espaço central dedicado às zona úteis habitáveis e organizando no
alinhamento da caixa de escadas as zonas húmidas da casa. Devido às múltiplas
roturas que o prédio sofreu, consideramos que seria importante concentrar as
zonas húmidas de forma a que pudessem partilhar as infraestruturas de águas,
esgotos e instalações de gás e facilitar a manutenção do edifício a longo
prazo.


Relativamente à disposição das áreas úteis, procurou orientar-se os quartos
tendencialmente a nascente, as salas de estar a poente, deixando apenas as
instalações sanitárias sem iluminação natural.


Com esta
abordagem, procuramos dar uma resposta mais coerente
e integrada às diferentes tipologias, tanto ao nível da estrutura e infraestrutura do
edifício, como ao nível da arquitectura e organização espacial.
